Reinvest in frontline services, says RCN

The RCN has called on the Department of Health to reinvest every penny of the recently reported NHS underspend in frontline services and staff. A spokesperson for the College said that whilst the RCN was pleased to see the NHS in a strong financial position, it must not be forgotten that the predicted £1.75 billion surplus is money that has not been spent on delivering quality patient care.
RCN delivers on vulnerable adults work promised at Congress

The Royal College of Nursing has joined forces with Educare to develop educational support materials for vulnerable adults. This follows work undertaken at Congress 2008 where resolution 19 called for training in this area to be strengthened.
RCN angered by clinics’ threat to nurses’ employment rights

The RCN has warned it is considering legal remedies if the Priory Group goes ahead with plans to cut sick pay for its nursing staff. The College has been inundated with complaints from angry members after discovering their employer's plans which are due to be implemented next month. The Priory Group has stated that the organisation has absence levels of “epidemic proportions”

2008 Annual General Meeting comes to Liverpool

All RCN eyes will be on the brand new Liverpool Arena and Convention Centre on Wednesday 15 October, when the 2008 AGM comes to town. This will be the first time in RCN history that the AGM has been held in an English region and comes to Liverpool during the Capital of Culture celebrations.
